The sad truth is a labour of love can only last so long

🌤️ Good afternoon, good people of London. I’m close to stopping this newsletter. I’ve sent it to thousands of you for free every day for over a year on a ‘pay if you want’ basis. While a handful of absolute heroes do pay (thank you, sincerely), there aren’t enough to keep it afloat, sadly.

I believe in the model (it works elsewhere), I believe in the importance of local news and I believe in a sense of community. But would you do something every morning between 5am and 7am for £0? Maybe I’m mad but I love doing this and just hoped a few more folks would find it useful and help ensure it continues.

So please sign up now if you want to continue receiving the daily newsletter. I really do hope there’s enough goodwill out there to support this simple ad-free model. I’ll give it a week and make a decision. If I decide to stop, I’ll refund anyone who signs up this week.

Another option is that I just paywall every edition, which I really don’t want to do because I really believe in fair access. Or I could try to find one sponsor, which again I’m hesitant about. But if you fancy discussing sponsorship, please get in touch.
